Mechatronics engineer work on electro-mechanical systems. They have a close relationship with control systems. The system that is used in airplanes, security of big buildings, automated systems, and many other things that we use in our daily life.

They also build robotic systems and many electrical components with a modern approach. These engineers pick old systems and add new features to them. In short, they give life to the old system. 

Now, the question arises can mechatronics engineer work in artificial intelligence? In general terms, it is not difficult for any engineer to go into the field of artificial intelligence.

You will require a deep interest in practice in math and statistics. Programming is an important thing in case of it. They have to know about data and how to drive results from it.
